This project focused on drainage and surface water control within an outdoor hardstand or school-style environment. The work involved preparing drainage infrastructure so water could be managed before the final surface was completed. Surface water management is important in areas used by students, staff and visitors because poor drainage can create slippery surfaces, ponding, soft ground and ongoing maintenance problems. This project addressed those issues at the construction stage.
The work included coordinating pipework, levels, surface falls and surrounding ground preparation. These elements needed to work together so that water could move away from the activity or access area and into the correct drainage system.
By building drainage into the project early, the finished outdoor area is better prepared for wet weather and regular use. This helps improve safety, protect the surface and support a cleaner, more reliable environment. The project is a practical example of how drainage infrastructure supports the final usability of school and public spaces.
